About CivicKnow

CivicKnow is a free, independent window into the Maryland General Assembly. It pulls every bill from the legislature's own open data, scrapes the public witness list for every hearing so you can see who showed up for and against, links those witnesses to the State Ethics Commission's lobbyist registry, and uses Claude to turn bill text into plain English. Then it does the part most trackers skip: it tells you the exact window when you can sign up to testify, reminds you before it closes, and drafts your testimony from your own story.

CivicKnode is a civic technology project built in Maryland. It started as a redistricting and demographic analysis tool for Washington County and grew into a set of tools for people who want to understand and shape their government without a lobbyist's budget. CivicKnow is the statewide piece.

Nothing here is official. Bill status, hearing times, and witness lists come from the Maryland General Assembly website and can lag it by up to an hour during session. Lobbyist registrations come from the Maryland State Ethics Commission. District boundaries come from the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER/Line files for the 2022 legislative districting plan. AI summaries are generated, not reviewed, and every page links back to the source documents so you can check.

CivicKnow does not sell data, run ads, or share your email. Accounts exist only to remember your district, your tracked bills, and which alerts you want.
